Helping Today grants are designed to quickly respond to the Basic Needs of our nonprofit community and help generate innovation through support of Great Ideas.

Types of Helping Today Grants Available:
Basic Needs
The goal of Basic Needs funding is to respond to operating challenges local nonprofits face that limit their ability to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, or experience of their service delivery.
Examples of allowable requests include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Time limited program expansion or special event/activity,
- Timely capital, facility, communications, or technology needs,
- Program quality improvement or staff development.
URGENT BASIC NEEDS GRANTS: If your request is urgent in nature (meaning you need funds to continue to provide services to clients at an optimal fashion and you cannot wait the 8 week period), please speak to Tiffanie Page-Collazo, Program Associate to request an expedited review.
Urgent funds are made available through our partnership with the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority.
Great Ideas
The goal of Great Ideas funding is to transform Great Ideas into reality.
Examples of allowable requests include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- An innovative project, program, or event;
- Activities to encourage broad community engagement and/or collaborations.
Average Helping Today grant awards are between $5,000-15,000.
Organizations can apply once a year to both the Basic Needs or Great Ideas funds.
