For women experiencing homelessness, that sense of certainty can feel impossibly far away.
At Mercy Center for Women, the mission has always been to provide more than emergency support. Their work is rooted in helping women rebuild their lives with dignity, compassion, and the resources needed to create lasting independence. Thanks to the generosity of Erie Gives donors in 2025, that mission took another important step forward.
Funds raised during Erie Gives helped support the completion of Brandy’s Corner, Mercy Center for Women’s newest transitional housing program for women and their children experiencing homelessness. Located in a thoughtfully renovated former rectory on the organization’s growing campus, Brandy’s Corner was created to provide a safe, welcoming environment where women can begin rebuilding after experiencing housing instability.
Every renovation brought the project one step closer to opening its doors. Erie Gives donations funded critical improvements throughout the facility, helping Mercy Center expand its housing capacity at a time when the need for safe, affordable housing continues to grow across Erie County.
For the women and families who will call Brandy’s Corner home, those improvements represent far more than a renovated building. They represent the chance to focus on finding employment, strengthening family relationships, pursuing education, and planning for the future instead of worrying about where they’ll sleep that night. A stable home creates the foundation that makes every other step forward possible.
