HEAR ERIE’S
YOUTH! GRANTS

Hear Erie’s Youth! (H.E.Y!) is the Foundation’s youth philanthropy program, governed by a group of Erie County 6th-12th grade students. Recipients of this grant are Erie County nonprofits focused on addressing youth issues in our community.

The total amount available to grant is $10,000, and an organization can request the full amount, although partial funding is a possibility. Grant recipients have 12 months to spend the funds.

Eligibility
Criteria

  • 501(c)3 tax-exempt designation from the Internal Revenue Service (if your nonprofit does not meet this requirement, see information here regarding fiscal sponsorship)
  • Must be located or serve a sizable population in Erie County, PA
  • The same organization will likely not be funded two years in a row
  • Project must be youth-focused
  • Review the grant opportunity’s RFP for any designated priority issue areas

Application
Process

  1. Review the Foundation’s essential requirements for eligibility.
  2. Review the grant opportunity RFP to ensure your project’s alignment with H.E.Y!’s priorities.
  3. Complete the application online using GoApply. This application is a public opportunity, and no access link is required.
  4. After submission, H.E.Y! members will review each application and select finalists.
  5. Finalists will be asked to participate in an in-person interview with H.E.Y! members.
  6. Award recipient(s) will be selected after the interview.

FAQs

Does the project require that HEY! members be involved in the implementation?

While our members are always looking for opportunities to be involved in their community, it is not a requirement for this grant.

Can I still apply for other grants at the Foundation if I receive funding from H.E.Y!?

Yes, each grant program is its funding bucket. However, H.E.Y! grant recipients are required to wait one year after the grant period is over to apply again.

What are the reporting requirements for this grant?

At the end of the 12-month grant period, grantees must complete a written final report. The report form will be provided to you and will be completed via GoApply.

I know a youth who may be interested in participating in this program. How do I find out more information?

Visit the resource section for this grant for additional information about the program, as well as a link to apply to join. Typically, new members are onboarded during the beginning of the school year or before H.E.Y!’s annual grant process in January.

Can I submit multiple applications?

No, each organization is only permitted to submit one application per funding round.

Can I talk to someone about my proposal?

Any questions can be directed to Rachel Cacchione
