LGBT FUND GRANT

Logo for the Erie LGBT Fund of the Erie Community Foundation, featuring bold purple text on a white background with a purple border.

The LGBT Fund Grant supports projects that address various needs in the LGBTQ+ community, including but not limited to: safe schools, youth homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention, housing and workplace equality, and family support and recognition.

The LGBT Fund values inclusivity in both the projects we support and the organizations and individuals who bring those ideas forward. We welcome applications from those whose work aligns with our mission to strengthen and uplift the local LGBTQIA+ community. Eligible applicants may request up to $10,000 in funding.

Eligibility
Criteria

Applicants must be Erie County 501 (c)3 organizations.

Organizations do not need to be exclusively LGBTQ+-focused to apply. Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a program or project that supports the diverse needs of the LGBTQ+ community in the Erie region is encouraged to apply.

    Application
    Process

Log onto The Erie Community Foundation’s grants portal, GOapply, to access this application, which is publicly accessible. Prior approval and pre-application meetings are not required. All applicants are strongly encouraged to consult the GOapply User Guide before applying.

    FAQs

What types of project will be funded?

Projects that address needs in the LGBTQ+ community will be funded. Prior grantees include Compton’s Table’s True North Program (2023) and GEAE and Journey to a Trauma-Informed Life’s efforts to support counseling for LGBTQ+ teens. For a complete list, see the LGBT Fund’s website.

What if I have an idea for a program or project, but I’m not a 501(c)3 organization?

The LGBT Fund believes that inclusivity extends to the projects we support and the people who create them. If you have an idea that fits the criteria above, you will need to partner with a 501(c)3 organization that agrees to act as a fiscal sponsor. For more information on fiscal sponsorship, please reach out to the Erie Community Foundation Community Impact team.

Can I apply for multi-year funding?

    No.
